1. What is an online check?

An online check is an electronic transaction that enables the customer to approve payment from his/her checking account. A customer needs a checking account and a valid routing and account number to use this option. It is automatically deducted from their checking account through the ACH (Automated Clearing House) system.

2. Can I use online checks for international charges?

Presently, the ACH (Automated Clearing House) does not handle international transactions. ACH only supports U.S. currency customers with U.S. checking accounts.

3. What is a return?

Banks issue a return when a request for transfer of funds is declined. Various reasons can cause this to occur such as: closure of account, invalid account, insufficient funds, transfer blocked, etc. Most returns come back within 2 to 10 days after requesting the transfer.

4. What happens if a customer generates a return and attempts to gain access         another time?

CCBill has a negative database that tests for returns. Once we notice that this is occurring it is very unlikely that the customer will be able to gain access to the site again.

5. How does the customer write an online check?

An online check is a paperless transaction. The customer simply enters his or her bank routing and account number in the electronic signup form and our system takes care of the rest. The system bills online checks electronically to the customer's checking account at the customer's bank.

6. How will I be certain of payment for the transaction?

We do not receive immediate verification of account funds from the ACH (Automated Clearing House) system. Therefore, we must request this information from ACH. After we have requested the account funds verification, there is a waiting period of 2 to 10 days to receive this information. Presently, we receive a notification of most "returns" within five business days from U.S. online banking systems.

7. Can my customers use an ATM card with online check signup form?

No, the customer cannot use an ATM card with the online check signup form. This would require entering a PIN number to access the customer’s account. However, it is possible to use a debit card with the credit card signup form, provided the card has the Visa or Mastercard symbol displayed. Click here to view the Credit Card FAQs.
